1  Mayhem Intergalactic / Features & Bugs / General Idea for MI. on: January 29, 2009, 08:48:45 pm
So I was thinking of some ways to make the battles a little more than a numbers battle.  Here are a few ideas I thought of:

Having different "formations" you could put your fleet into such as the echelon, combat box, finger-four, or vee formation. Then you could make one weak against one formation and strong against another. (For example, the combat box would do twice as much damage to the echelon, but half as much to the vee).  It would work kind of like rock-paper-scissors, but add a little strategic depth to the game.

Having planets clustered in systems and then giving bonuses for controlling a certain system, kind of like what Risk does with Continent bonuses.

That is all I have, but I thought I would throw it out there.

Oh okay, I haven't seen a map with the rifts on it yet.

I was playing this and I noticed that sometimes it took longer to set a rally directly to a planet than it did to go through several planets.  For instance, I wanted to send ships from planet X (for simplicities sake) to planet Y. This took 3 turns, or I could send them to planet Z and then from there to planet Y this took two turns. I thought this was a little odd, but not a drastic thing. I was also wondering if you considered limiting the planets that you could travel to. So planets far behind the front lines were "safe" from direct attack, like Risk.
4  Mayhem Intergalactic / General Mayhem / Re: Any cheats/codes available for Mayhem Intergalactic? on: January 29, 2009, 02:55:27 am
I'd love to know the story behind the "Am I talking to Miranda now?" Achievement.  That has to be some sort of Easter Egg, especially since there is a Miranda on the board here.  Wink

The latter is an amusing coincidence. Go watch Serenity (the movie), then you'll understand. Smiley

Can I change my name to Mr. Universe? I want to marry a robot. Serenity =  Great Movie

By the way, that reminded to put my standard quote in my signature box.  Cool

Hmm, I will have to give it a go then maybe.  Always looking for something creative to do to pass the time.

I have always thought cheat codes were dumb. I remember in high school when Quake came out and I would see kids playing it on Nightmare difficulty with God Mode enabled.  What is the point in that??  I say no cheats, but maybe an Easter Egg or two... like say funny looking ships or some strange background you enable.

Too bad I didn't keep my copy of 3ds max, I used to be alright with it.  Have to check out The Gimp and Blender though. I downloaded the demo about to try it out.

Hi all, I am from Texas, USA and just saw this game in the new Steam News update. Thinking about giving it a whirl, but I don't know anyone who has this game. Perhaps my brother-in-law would like the guest pass because we play Risk sometimes.  Anyway, thought I would post something.  Also, I was reading some of the other threads and was wondering what does it take to make the graphics in this game. (I mean what programs do you use to draw the ships, backgrounds, etc.)
